The Work Day: A Look at Westchester Magazine style

About a month ago, a few of us on the editorial staff here at the magazine took a long hard look at what we wear to work on a daily basis. (Ok, fine, it lasted a total of fiveminutes) The results included lots of jeans, fitted t-shirts, and—oh yes, I’m admitting it—sneakers. And while we often like to hide behind our need to be artsy and thus dress in a way that allows us to unleash our creative vibes, it was time to change things up. So, we instituted “Trendy Tuesdays” wherein we dress up—some women may wear fancy dresses, very high heels, high boots, and lots of makeup and the guys ties, pressed shirts, suspenders, and once, one even donned a fedora (very trendy—he looked similar to

New Store Spotlight: Beehive Co-op

And the first shop dedicated almost solely to displaying local products, Beehive Co-Op, opened a few weeks ago in Mount Kisco. I stopped by last week to check it out and was wonderfully impressed.

The shop itself features a well-edited collection...

These pajamas look so cute and comfy. Plus, I love the matching socks (I don’t know about you, but my feet are always so cold when I sleep.) Called the “Tickled Pink Boyfriend Pajamas,” the...

Bargain Hunting Basics

Love the comments in the last post! I just wrote about shopping at Payless and you would have thought I was telling people to shop at the Salvation Army—which I do hear has some designer items every now and then ;) Just for the record, though, I think fashion should be a mix of high- and low-end pieces. Who cares whether that gorgeous coat was bought at Bergdoff’s or Filene’s Basement? Personally, I don’t think too about much about name brands —if it looks good, fits well, and doesn’t break the bank, I’m going to get it. While I won’t buy something that looks cheap or is going to fall apart in a few days just because it’s a bargain, I think it’s certainly possible to find fabulous clothes at fabulous prices. In case...
