Girls' Night Out

Last night, Dorna, our Web Editor, and I headed into the city for Shecky’s Girls Night Out, a beauty and fashion event that takes place in various cities throughout the year. It is open to the public and features entire floors of great fashion, accessories, beauty products, etc. We spotted some great emerging designers, like Sylvie Guieysse, who hails from France and makes amazing pillows by hand, as well as designers who’ve been on the scene for awhile: former Project Runway contestant Emmett McCarthy displayed some of his creations under his EMC2 line. Designer Look: Rufus New Spring Collection

It's not often that I write about men's clothes. Maybe I have a whole issue with "relating" to the clothing? Perhaps. But, when I came across the Rufus men’s collection a few years ago, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved the clothing.

New Store Spotlight: Industry

Recently, I spent a week in Prague and Budapest. The castles were beautiful, the food was awesome (Can we talk about paprika for a second? So good!) and the weather was great—75 and sunny almost every day. On our last day in Prague, though, it rained on and off the entire time. Solution? Shop. (Am I starting to sound really predictable here?)

Still, I love shopping in new cities. There’s something about discovering shops on random streets or shuffling through racks of clothing that you’re sure you won’t find at home, that makes you feel a bit more like a local. In Prague, I picked up one of their traditional Easter eggs at Manufaktura, a great store that sells lots of home items, wooden toys and even makes...

Required Reading

When it comes to fashion and style, books abound. There are gorgeous art-like coffee table books and fun accounts of life in the fashion industry and (of course) lots of guides on how to achieve the perfect style. With summer finally here, I’m sure many of you are planning an escape from our lovely suburb. Here are some books to take along with you, or to leave on the coffee table at home for summer houseguests to ooh and ahh over.
