Fashion + Beauty = Good Idea

I’m a sucker for department stores. All the options, the choices, the saving gas by getting everything you need in the same building. Sure, sometimes I wish I could be one of those shoppers who peruses a tiny boutique and comes out with armloads of clothes, but I’m a suburban kid at heart and much more likely to head straight to the nearest Bloomingdale’s or—who am I kidding—Kohl’s, (I recently stocked up on a ton of gym clothes for cheap), when I need to get lots of different things.

Maybe that’s why I’m really excited about a new partnership between Bloomingdale’s and Space.NK Apothecary. Announced a few days ago, the retail giant will begin housing Space.NK boutiques—one of England’s most popular beauty suppliers—within its stores. Set to open in nine Bloomingdale’s locations, one will be right here in the White Plains store.

Space.NK itself isn’t new to Westchester. With only four independent locations in the entire country, the mega-popular UK chain decided to open one in Scarsdale this past spring. Owner and founder Nikki Kinnaird personally scouts products, bringing the best of what she finds for men and women into the store—everything from high end brands like Laura Mercier and The Art of Shaving, to lesser known brands like Sheerino’Kho and Menscience Androceuticals, plus their own signature line. Kinnaird changes her inventory frequently, so you can always find something new.

The White Plains edition is expected to open sometimes in the late fall, and will be about 750 to1,000 square feet. The boutique will mirror the existing Space.NK stores with makeup artists and skincare experts on hand to help you choose exactly what you need.

Once you’ve got your makeup, head upstairs—there’s a cute cardigan with your name written all over it.
