The Style Olympics

So, have the Olympics been inspiring you at all? Because they’ve definitely done the trick for me—both in and outside the gym. And even though I don’t think I’ll ever have a body like Dara Torres (especially at 41 and after having a baby), there’s got to be some sort of medal for those of us who might not have any athletic ability at all, but at least make the time to get to the gym during the week, no?

Now that we’ve got the motivation part down, it’s time to tackle the clothing part (the best part, right?). A few weeks ago I got so tired of wearing the same Boston University T-shirts and Soffe shorts to the gym that I ran out to Kohl’s to replenish my inventory. If you’re in the market for a few plain Ts, sports bras, and yoga pants, the Kohl’s in Yonkers has a department dedicated to such stuff, and there’s almost always a sale going on.

But if you’re a bit more fashion-conscious when it comes to dressing for the gym (though, please, please, leave the makeup and jewelry at home), Fila just unveiled its new fall line. Truth be told I’ve always held a soft spot for the brand—back in 5th grade, my first designer sneakers were by Fila. The collection is light, stylish and there are even a few pieces that are eco-friendly as well. You can find the online at fila.com, and at Nordstrom and Lord & Taylor. Here’s a preview:

This yellow ombre sleeveless tank is made of 85% recycled poly-spandex and costs $50.

This yellow cinched tank is $45 and is made of 95% bamboo.

These stretch wellness pants retail for $65.

This pink tank is super cute and retails for $55 and although not officially part of the clothing line, I’m loving those "Fila" sneakers.

From the women’s “White Line” this green jacket retails for $140.
