Usually, I don’t send readers over the border for beauty treatments, but freelance writer Cat Zambito raved so much about the pedicures at Empy’s Day Spa in Greenwich, Connecticut (143 W Putnam Ave, 203-661-6625), that I had to make an exception. Her report:
“The salon is painted a beautiful pale aqua and has heavenly opera music playing in the background. The upper level is for manicures and hair; pedicures, facials, and waxes are done in the more intimate lower level. You head down leopard print stairs and enter a room filled with cushy chocolate brown armchairs, elegant brass and glass chandeliers, and a gorgeous floral wall mural. [Wait, am I getting a pedicure or meeting Marie Antoinette in her parlor for tea?]
For the next hour or so, my pedicurist, Guenga, gently restored my feet to their pre-winter ready-for-a-close-up state. It’s a shame to cover up her artistry with heavy socks and boots, so take your time before leaving and enjoy the decadent setting before heading back out into the bitter cold. It’s best to book at least a week ahead for your ‘feet retreat’ as these ladies book up fast. Although Empy’s pedicure is a bit on the pricey side, [$40.41 with tax included]; it is well worth every penny.”

Pity the plight of the beauty blogger: Each week, the newest products appear on her desk, all promising younger-looking skin, tighter pores, plumper lips, lusher lashes, frizz-free hair—in short, a healthier, more glamorous life. Dutifully, Westchester Magazine Associate Editor Katie O’Donnell tests (or investigates) each item or service featured in WM’s Beauty Buzz blog. Life is beautiful indeed.
