Almond Joy

Here are some more reasons to love almonds: L’Occitane’s newest additions to its line of skin-firming products. Apparently, almond buds possess firming and elasticity-boosting properties for smoother-looking skin. Sounds too good to be true, right? Maybe not. I tried the Almond Shaping Delight ($48) and, while it didn’t get rid of cellulite, my skin definitely looked smoother right away, And unlike other firming treatments in which you have to massage the cream into your skin for 20 or so minutes with every application, L’Occitane’s cream goes on like silk and absorbs quickly. What’s not to love?...

A Rising Star

Fashion Group International named Vasken Demerjian, owner of Vasken Demirjian Salon (12 City Pl @ Trump, White Plains, 914- 285-0800; vaskendemirjian.com) as a rising star in retail at a recent awards ceremony in Manhattan. “It's a prestigious award in the fashion circle,” says Demerjian. “The fact that it has nothing to do with the hair industry, per se, makes it even more meaningful. I am constantly working on innovative ideas—I want to make our concept boutique salon a force to be reckoned with.” Seems he is well on his way.
