Hispanic Business Summit

The 2nd annual Hispanic Business Summit, titled “Crossroads to Customers, Capital & Contracts,” takes place October 7 from 5 pm to 9 pm in the Gateway Center Atrium at Westchester Community College in Valhalla. The event will feature networking, panels, and workshops aimed at helping participants learn to expand their customer base, gain access to capital and financial planning, do business with county government, and get advice on business contracts and incorporation. Attendees will also have a chance to hear from keynote speaker Tony Jimenez, MicroTech CEO and Latin Business Today Advisory Board Member. Hear From Higher Ed Leaders at BCW KeyBank Speakers Series

Four of Westchester’s leaders in higher education will convene October 8 as part of The Business Council of Westchester’s KeyBank Speaker Series. The event, titled Higher Education: Strategies and Traditions, will be held from 8 to 9:30 am at Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown. Panelists scheduled to appear are: Stephen J. Friedman, President, Pace University; Belinda S. Miles, PhD., President, Westchester Community College; Michael J. Smith, President, Berkeley College; and Jon Strauss, PhD., President, Manhattanville College. The discussion will be moderated by Geoffrey Thompson, Managing Partner at Thompson & Bender. As part of the event, panelists will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing institutions of higher learning, including creating curriculums to properly train the workforce of the future. The hugely popular historian and political analyst, Mark Halperin, will be the featured speaker at The Business Council of Westchester’s 2015 Annual Dinner. Halperin, whose best-selling book Game Change was adapted into an award-winning HBO film, also serves as Managing Editor of Bloomberg Politics and host of Bloomberg TV’s With All Due Respect. Leadership From the Inside Out

The Women’s Leadership Institute at Manhattanville College’s School of Business continues its Fall 2015 Professional Development Workshops on October 28 from 1 pm to 5 pm with Finding the Inner Fire that Lights the Way to Success. The half day workshop, featuring facilitator Heather Hansen-O’Neill, of Find Your Fire, aims to help attendees learn how to incorporate their strengths on a daily basis, how to adapt and grow their leadership skills, and find the support needed to succeed. Expanding awareness, effective decision making, authenticity, fostering collaboration, and confident leadership will be key components of the workshop. The event cost is $175 per person.
