Westchester startup uStadium, an online hub that combines varied sports content into organized feeds, will soon expand its client base to the Android and website markets after receiving funds from Hudson Valley Startup Fund (HVSF). The HVSF, a member-managed seed capital fund that “provides seed funding, mentorship and connections for local entrepreneurs,” invested $50,000 into the burgeoning startup.
uStaidum provides a platform where sports fans can post 300-character statuses or one-minute videos, and allows users to comment on games in real time, or join other discussion forums to connect with fellow sports enthusiasts. It is now available in the iTunes App Store.
Frank Vittorini, a West Harrison resident and uStadium CEO and co-founder has made tremendous strides since he was last featured as one of 914INC.’s 2016 Wunderkinds. "uSTADIUM’s goal is to be the #1 sports app worldwide, providing fans with a specialized, unique place to connect,” says Vittorini. “Social media has become a mess, especially for fans who use social media for sports. HVSF understands our goals and wants to support us in our mission.”
Tony DiMarco, founding manager of the HVSF, says that the fund was interested by uStadium because the app caters to the large sports market, which is currently underserved by social media. DiMarco also notes that he took an instant liking to Frank and his team.
Beyond uStaidum, the HSVF has also recently invested in Eco Shrimp Garden in Orange County, NY, and StateBook International in Ulster County, NY. DiMarco comments that these investments are more than just pecuniary. “All of the startups we invest in within the Hudson Valley are a key part of our mission to strengthen the Hudson Valley startup ecosystem. We leverage our members’ diverse backgrounds and skills to mentor, connect and promote the Hudson Valley entrepreneurial community.” He adds that uStadium’s combination of outreach and diligence made them a perfect candidate for the partnership.
