Ossining to Host Hudson Valley Main Street Summit
The Community Preservation Corporation's (CPC) Hudson Valley Main Street Summit is coming to Ossining. The free networking conference, “Downtown Redevelopment Strategies,” will feature local industry panelists analyzing the latest downtown trends and Main Street redevelopment throughout the region. The summit is geared toward local businesses and property owners, developers, investors, brokers, municipal officials as well as community and economic development entities. Held this year at the Ossining Public Library, the CPC event will focus on issues like main street revitalization, tourism as a local economic driver, and best practices in retail attraction, and retention.

Free Workshops For Small Businesses
Nonprofit alternative lender Community Capital New York is offering a series of free workshops at the Greenburgh Public Library in Elmsford that will focus on the financial aspects of starting, running, and succeeding in a small business. Each workshop will provide real, practical take-aways that you can immediately put to use. The remaining sessions will explore the key drivers leading to profitability (“Make Sense of Your Financial Statements,” April 23); pricing strategy (“Setting the Right Price for Your Products and Services,” May 7); and determining what tasks to outsource (“Your Professional Team—When to Reach Out and How to Set Expectations,” May 28).

Barbara Corcoran Will Headline Grow 2.0 Conference
Barbara Corcoran—real estate mogul and one of the “sharks” on ABC TV’s popular show Shark Tank—will kick off this year's Westchester Community College - Gateway to Entrepreneurship's GROW Conference as keynote speaker at the KeyBank and Business Council of Westchester Speaker Series. The second annual conference, titled "GROW 2.0,"aims to unite local professionals through networking, mentoring business development and strategy. Breakout sessions, led by local and national business leaders, include: “HR Essentials: The Art & Science of Attracting, Developing & Recruiting Talent,” “How to Think Like a CFO,” “The Art of Mingling & Networking,” and “The Home Office: Haven or Hell.” Small business owners will also have a chance to pitch their idea to a panel of successful entrepreneurs and investors for feedback as part of the conference’s investor pitch session.
HealthTech ’14 To Spotlight Westchester’s Growing Health Tech Sector
To call attention to Westchester’s growing health tech sector, the Westchester County Association (WCA) and its economic development arm, The BLUEPRINT for Westchester, have organized HealthTech ’14: Fueling Innovation in Westchester. The two-day conference, held May 7 – 8 at the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton in Tarrytown, features leading innovators in biotech, medtech, and health tech, and is attracting entrepreneurs, investment bankers, venture capitalists, technologists, and others. Day One is geared toward entrepreneurs, with the “Entrepreneurs’ Edge, ” panel discussion with national experts in startup law, banking, crowdfunding, and venture capital; followed by “Pitch to the Pros,” an opportunity for companies to present their ideas to a panel of judges. The winner will receive a $10K cash grant and automatic acceptance into Westchester’s BLUEPRINT Accelerator Network. Day Two includes an in-depth look at “IBM Watson and the Future of Medicine” and a compelling keynote address by Steven Safyer, MD, the CEO of Montefiore Health System.
