Whether you aspire to Williams-sister status or simply want to beef up your backhand, Yonkers Tennis Center (YTC) has you covered. For almost 50 years, this family-owned business has been teaching tennis techniques to everyone from the littlest tikes to senior citizens picking up a racquet for the first time. On any given week, approximately 1,500 players descend upon the facility’s six indoor courts. And don’t worry about having to don tennis whites: The center prides itself on being a down-to-earth option for tennis players.

In February, YTC received official green certification from the county’s Green Business Partnership, followed by the organization’s Outstanding Achievement in Organizational Commitment Award in June. The center has also provided free tennis lessons to wounded veterans and is launching the “Coach Pat Project” this fall,  in honor of a beloved YTC pro who passed away from cancer. Through the program, Yonkers Public School students will receive 20 weeks of tennis instruction from YTC professionals as part of the physical-education cirriculum at four different local schools.

“What I’m most proud of at Yonkers Tennis Center is the way that we as a company and my entire staff conducts themselves both on and off the court. We care about what we do and how we do it. We support our customers and their interests and always reach our hand out to help,” notes YTC president Joe Curto Jr.
